the genuine charming genius

i don’t know how to pop that without going over too much but Jonathan Zawada is a genius to my eyes. mixing the weird and the beautiful, he always comes up with amazing identities that just create a whole atmosphere by itself.
no words needed, just by a look you feel a whole world coming to you.
it’s amazing how so many feelings can just go through your body by just watching graphic design works.

here the whole identity he created for the new restaurant Isa in BK, in collaboration with his homie and photographer Ben Sullivan

new updates on takeshi’s folio

the amazingly skilled art director recently brought new artworks to his folio : editorial illustrations for G-Shock, a collaboration with Staple Design (approved by Jeff himself), the Nippon Sounds Mixtape cover for the Atlanta’s new comer Donnis, among several personal works.

as usual, he brings the beautiful to our eyes, made of sweetness & freshness, mixed of realism & dream.

takeshi drives us one more time into his world… and the door is open, invite your friends!

jonathan zawada in a fashematic era

after a couple of months of reflexion cause of something we would have called ‘shitty coincidences happen’ (cf. zawada’s doomed former hero on the cover…), jonathan finally decided to release the second issue of his fashematical project.

the zine is a collection of illustrations reinterpreting the stars of the catwalk as part of either a horde of zombies or of robots, hell-bent on taking planet earth for themselves. styled with clothes by Celine, Stella McCartney, Prada, Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh and more… he illustrated his favorite looks from spring/summer ’11 runway shows.

go grab yours here… the cover’s unfortunate choice make it kinda pretty unique…

jonathan zawada x PS3 : something for our artish nerds

the aussie art director Jonathan Zawada recently made a work for the nerd-gear-brand Sony Playstation, and its Studio Project.

the Playstation XMB (XrossMediaBar) interface has been pimped by selected designers from around the world ; jonathan was among them and he created a theme as a non-linear nesting of animations which create an infinitely regressive family of skulls. the theme also includes a complete set of customized icons and so rather entertainingly choreographed sequences of animation.

it’s available to purchase and download on The Studio since May 4th.

le dernier jour de la jeunesse by jonathan zawada

2011 & NYC will see the launch of a new collectible magazine featuring a selection of arts, fashions, designs….
while in France english appellations burst for years, we know that newyorkers have a big love for french words. it’s classy and timeless, and will always be.

le dernier jour de la jeunesse establishes itself as a magazine dedicated to the Youth culture and i guess, as the title says, to the Youth culture we share on our last days before becoming adults, real adults; themes about Beauty, Grace, Innocence, Eros, Nostalgia, Decadence, and Rebellion – a mix of moods & passions.

jonathan zawada designed the typography of this upcoming magazine and worked with his friend shamon peel to produce a video, teasing the vibe of the journal. Not so much have been needed to create this elegant and explicit film : a fan, a sweet nude girl and black paint ; as we are used to say ‘less is more’, and it proves it.

To see the video, it’s this way —> www.ledernierjourdelajeunesse.com

No scheme planned, no schedule yet, we will keep you inform on the release of the first issue of the magazine, in a limited edition of 3,000 copies.
